There were so many excuses I could have come up with yesterday for not running:
- it’s raining
- my apartment is a mess
- I’m hungry
- I’m tired
- I have work to do
- my cat’s lonely
I guess there will always be excuses I can come up with until running becomes something I absolutely need to do. But just like everything else in life no one is going to force me to do it. So if I really want to run a marathon no one else can run it for me.
The same thought occured to me while I was on the treadmill. When I ran two miles last week I ran for two minutes and then walked for a minute. This time after warming up I started looking forward to my one minute of walking when I realized I didn’t need it so I just kept running. In 2.7 miles I only walked twice for one minute each time to ease a sharp pain in my left hip. I’m not sure what the difference is between good pain and bad pain — right now if it’s a muscle ache then I just keep going and if it’s a sharp pain then I walk.
